What Is Inside a Lithium Battery Pack
Cells connected in series or parallel set the pack's voltage and capacity. Around them sit the BMS, which monitors cell voltage, temperature and current, balances cells and cuts the circuit on fault, plus the enclosure, busbars, wiring, insulation and thermal management parts.
Cell Types and Their Strengths
LCO — very high energy density for consumer electronics.
LMO — good thermal stability, used in power tools.
LFP — long cycle life and safety, ideal for EVs and storage.
NMC — balanced energy and power for EVs and grid storage.
NCA — high energy density for performance vehicles.
Why Lithium Packs Outperform
Typical packs reach 100–265 Wh/kg and withstand 500–3,000 cycles before dropping below 80% capacity. Against lead-acid they are lighter, smaller and longer-lived.

Portable electronics, electric vehicles, energy storage, power tools, AGVs, drones, medical devices and portable power stations all use lithium packs. Mobility products most often run at 12V, 24V, 48V, 60V or 72V, while EVs and storage systems move to higher voltages.
